From an unknown brand to a recognisable one

Thanks to a well-thought-out strategy and a consistent approach, some brands manage to establish a recognisable position within their sector.

Virtually every successful brand started out with no brand awareness. Nobody knew the company, nobody knew what it stood for, and customers still had to be won over. Yet there are brands that manage to establish a recognisable position within their sector. This does not happen by chance, but through a well-thought-out strategy and a consistent approach.

Why recognisability is so important

People often choose companies they know and trust. When your brand is regularly visible and makes a consistent impression, this increases the likelihood that people will think of you when they need your product or service. Brand recognition ensures:

  • greater trust;
  • more word-of-mouth advertising;
  • a stronger market position;
  • less reliance on price competition.

Start with a clear positioning

Before you can build a brand, you need to know what you stand for. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who is our ideal customer?
  • What problem do we solve?
  • What sets us apart?
  • What values are important to us?

The clearer your answers to these questions are, the easier it will be to establish a recognisable brand.

Develop a strong visual identity

People recognise brands visually first. Think of colours, logos, photography and design. A consistent visual identity ensures that your brand stands out and is more easily remembered.

Tell a story

People don’t connect with products or services, but with stories. Why did you start out in the first place? What drives your business? What is your mission? By telling your story, you humanise your brand and create an emotional connection with your target audience.

Be visible and consistent

A strong brand isn’t built in a week or a month. Recognition comes through repetition. Make sure you:

  • you maintain a regular presence;
  • communicate consistently;
  • use the same visual identity across the board;
  • and keep repeating the same message.

Ultimately, a brand isn’t built by a single campaign, but by consistently working on your visibility and reputation over many years.
